Overview
The 2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser is a true blend of modern power, comfort, safety, and convenience technology. As a four-door, five-passenger, sport utility vehicle, the 2009 FJ Cruiser sees the introduction of driver and front passenger active headrests, a stability control cut-off switch, front map light, roll-sensing curtain airbags, and a driver-side vanity mirror as standard equipment.

Choices of three drivetrains made available include a rear-wheel drive version equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission; a part-time four-wheel drive version with a five-speed automatic transmission; and a full-time four-wheel drive version with a six-speed manual transmission. A 4-liter DOHC 24-valve SFI VVT-i V6 engine churns out 239 horsepower for the FJ Cruiser.

The front styling, white roof and wrap around rear-quarter windows of the 2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser remind of the original FJ40. Three windshield wipers, rear-hinged access doors that facilitate backseat entry, rear swing gate with spare tire, and 17-inch steel wheels, with 17-inch alloy wheels as optional, are some of the exterior features.
The prominent interior features are air conditioning, power windows, door locks, AM/FM CD player, MP3/WMA playback capability with six speakers, water-resistant seat fabric, and folding 60/40-split backseat. Remote keyless entry, cruise control, power mirrors, and a six-CD changer are some optional interior features for the FJ Cruiser.
Safety features
The 2009 Toyota FJ incorporates Toyota's STAR Safety System that includes vehicle stability control, traction control, and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, and brake assist among other standard safety equipments. Dual-stage front airbags, side-curtain airbags, and front-seat side airbags are also standard.
